Christmas 2011 is upon us

Two more days until Christmas. Gift shopping is done. Wrapping is almost done. Next up is grocery shopping for dinner and starting my baking.

This yearly ritual is tiring and crazy, but always welcome. Why do we put ourselves through this stress. We spend too much, we eat too much, we drink too much. Can you spell E X C E S S ?

On the other hand, it brings my family together in hugs and smiles and love that can be shared and shared over and over. That alone is worth the stress. The yearly bonding event that glues this family together in a way that nothing else can.

Well the day is beginning, I need to finish my grocery list and get my butt in gear!

Count down

10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...I just looked at the calendar and realized that in 10 days, I have to go back to work!

This month is flying by. We did have an amazing week up at Tony & Dona's in Minnesota even with the unbelievable heat. They have made their home into a sanctuary that anyone would want to make into a destination for relaxing. Had loads of fun junking and antiquing with Dona. We have many more shops to investigate next year. Stopped in Minneapolis to have breakfast with Lee and Marcy. They live in the Lyndale area which is an older section of Minneapolis. Absolutely beautiful area. Interesting shops and restaurants with character. We went to the French Market Bakery which was scrumptious just walking through the door to smell the fresh baked breads. They have lots of organic and vegan choices included in a huge menu. I had the eggs benedict, but the french toast served on a table next to us was so yummy looking. Our trip home was a fast 6 hours from there. This just means that a run up to see Dona or Lee is really just a day trip if I want to zip up one more time before work starts again.

Home again. Grilling out is almost a daily event. Meeting up with friends is always great. We have been chillin' at home a lot, but forced relaxation is not necessarily a bad thing at all.

So am I ready to go back to the office? Not really, but when it happens, it is good to know that scheduling and updating CUM files is already done. Starting school is going to be a piece of cake this year. I am really not dreading it at all. What can I say, I love working at my school.

Smart Phones & iPads...

Smart Phones & iPads, I may never go back to my computer again. I find that I am no longer tied to my tower. My Droid phone does nearly everything, and whatever it does not do, my iPad does the rest. Both are very portable and light. Okay, I admit, I will keep my computer, but I am finding less and less reason to actually use my computer.

I am considering a Xoom next because it uses Flash where the iPad does not. I love discovering new apps for my mobile life. My latest addiction is Flipbook on iPad. What an amazing server of social life and lifestyle information. I started out adding Facebook and I loved how the posts and pictures were displayed. So I added Twitter and my Google Reader for all of my RSS feeds. So cool! Now I am adding my favorite Blogs like JP Villanueva's "You Don't Have To Read v2.0". I found really cool content like National Geographic and Rolling Stone. How on earth am I going to find enough time to do all this reading now?
